- Place the new litter box in the same location as the old one, fill it with litter, and ensure that the power is turned off. Give your cat one or two days to explore the new litter box.
If your cat shows no interest, try attracting it with catnip or its favorite treats. - Add some litter from the old litter box into the new one to provide a familiar scent.
- Place food around the litter box so your cat begins to associate the litter box with positive reinforcement.
- Once you notice your cat using the new litter box, you may turn on the power to enable automatic cleaning. Encourage your cat to observe this process, helping it become familiar with the sounds of the new litter box. You can comfort your cat during this time. Once the cycle is complete, turn off the machine again. Avoid cleaning the old litter box during this transition period.
